Oh wow. Vestiges of Mal and Kaylee shipping, and calling Inara a whore, but easily overlooked for the nice character moments. Kinda reminds me of the Wash and Kaylee story What Holds Us Down.

And Jayne's "fair trade" is hilarious. Chocolates, romance novels, and lipstick? Just what is that merc up to?

Yes, that line really made me laugh! The reference to past Mal/Kaylee shipping was uncomfortable, but if overlooked, much of the rest was good.

Oh that is a good Shepherd Book origin story.

It's kinda similar to that part in the middle of Shepherd's Tale when Book is interrogating an actual browncoat sympathizer. But yeah, the only thing I really like about Shepherd's tale is how it's arranged backwards and how the scene cuts are like Book's life flashing before his eyes. It's not bad, but it really could have been better.

Yeah, I think I'm going to incorporate that Shepherd Book story into my headcanon. I think the writer of it did a better job of incorporating the hints (eg. "So where does that leave you?") from the series into Book's backstory than The Shepherd's Tale did. The story had a gritty realness to it, made Book tough and ruthless without being an over-the-top baddie, and made his moment of epiphany ring true.

Yay kitty! I liked this, though there's another fanfic out there with less murderous mice who don't die.

I just finished a quick read of Be Careful What You Wish For. Very interesting how she seems to be a mirror of the Operative now, she is what they've made of her but she's working against them.

Hmm. I should check that out.

Also, October is coming up, which means it's time for an art month! And hopefully a fanfic update month too.

Oh yes! I love the sushi series. try googling them on livejournal. There's a lot of them and they're all very nice. They even convince Mal to try homesteading and start over with the ranching. Kind of a full circle healing thing.

Wow. That really was good.

It's going to make it so much more painful whatever happens in the upcoming comics where Zoe decides to leave Serenity. In the post-movie comics before the birth, Mal acts like he's just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think that's all going to come to a head and Mal's fear that Zoe blames him will be realized.

Not too into song fics, and don't know the song in this one. But it's pretty good.
